Today's card shows Santa's sleigh with elfin helpers assisting him as he prepares for the journey on Christmas Eve. The sleigh was inspired by a few of the Tim Allen Santa Clause movies. The ornate sets and elements were really impressive. When working on these cards I have found myself doing more research into areas I never thought about. this year's card was no exception.
I began with searching for an idea and came upon a photo of Santa's Post box outside a welsh shopping center, From here I looked into photos of the mail rooms at Christmas. The rush and abundance of letters and packages amazed me.
This led to a search of 1900's post offices and remembering the old gray stone Post Office where I grew up. Walking up the stairs in what I believe must have been a 1930's post office. Teller windows where you purchased your stamps and posted your mail with iron grates and a small pass through. I then researched stamps and came upon the idea of postal codes, Then zipcodes made sense to be included.
Take note of the details in and on Santa's sleigh and look forward to this years card as it gets closer to be unveiled.
